Augusta Palmer is Assistant Teaching Professor of Film and Video in the Department of Communication at Wake Forest University. She is a filmmaker and scholar who holds a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from New York University, where her dissertation examined industrial and aesthetic trends in Chinese-language cinemas. Her work as a filmmaker includes THE BLUES SOCIETY (2023), a feature documentary about a 1960s blues festival held in Memphis, TN, and ORDER MY STEPS (2023), a narrative short about an incarcerated woman reaching out to her estranged daughter after 20 years of silence. Palmer’s documentary work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
