Dr. Betsy Chapman is Executive Director of Family Communications at Wake Forest and Part-Time Assistant Professor in their Department of Communication. She has primary responsibility for communicating with Wake Forest undergraduate parents and families across a variety of platforms. She is the author of the Daily Deac blog (https://parents.wfu.edu/daily-deac/), which covers Wake Forest activities, news, and college-parenting advice, and helps give families a glimpse of campus life each weekday. She has a primary editorial role in the WFU Should Know weekly student e-newsletter and also works with institutional and crisis communications. She teaches COM 162 (Intro to Integrated Marketing) and COM 370 (Crisis, High-Stress, and Institutional Communications for Colleges and Universities).
Betsy graduated from Wake Forest with a BA in English and French Literature and an MA in English. She has a doctorate in Higher Education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro; her research focused on parent and family interactions with the college related to readership of blogs and other institutional communications. Her most recent publication was a chapter in Building Institutional Systems of Support for the Parents and Families of College Students (2026); her chapter was “How Institutional Communications Can Influence Parent and Family Behavior.”
