Dave Goren is in his 17th year as the executive director of the National Sports Media Association. This North Carolina-based nonprofit organization honors sports media for excellence and provides educational programming for college students and young professionals.
Before the NSMA, he spent 20 years as an award-winning sportscaster at WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, NC. In 2008, he was voted by his peers as the NSMA’s North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year.
In addition to his NSMA duties, he is in his 21st season as part of the Learfield radio crew for Wake Forest University football, currently serving as the sideline reporter. He also teaches a sports broadcasting class at Wake Forest.
Among his many volunteer duties, Dave has served on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Qubein School of Communication at High Point since 2012, and was recognized as Friend of the Qubein School in 2021, for going above and beyond to be engaged with the school and support its students.
Goren was inducted into the Winston-Salem Forsyth County High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 and was recognized by the Winston-Salem Dash in 2021 with its Service Through Sports Award.
He is a frequent guest on sports radio talk shows, as well as a frequent emcee and speaker at civic clubs and school and charity events throughout North Carolina.
Goren retired after a 15-year career as a low-scoring winger in the Piedmont Hockey Association. He lives in Lewisville, NC, with his wife Ada. They have two sons, AJ and Max, and a hound dog named Sophie.
